3 Harbours Arts FestivalFollowing the success of the fishermen sculpture I did at last years festival, I would like to use the week this year to do another large scale piece. As a professional stone cutter I have to make the opportunity to do my own thing. This festival offers me a chance to do a speculative piece and to interface with the public.

Visit the workshop and watch the work as it happens and follow progress on my website. I work hard, and as fast as I can, but even so nothing happens very quickly to a large block of stone. Visit at the start and come back and see how the work develops. Take this opportunity to observe the process of stone carving first hand.

I will also display examples of my work and there will be somewhere to sit and watch. We will be open to the public all week and over the weekends. I will be resting on the Saturday afternoons and Sundays but will be actually at work the rest of the time. My apprentice will also be working on some small scale things during the week which, along with some unusual casts and smaller original carvings, will be for sale.

Our house is also the venue for Judith Gordons' dramatic large canvases again. Jude is in her fourth year as a mature student at Edinburgh art college and last years exhibition of her unique paintings inspired by time spent in Iceland was a fantastic success. I am sure she will have some remarkable work to display again this year and am looking forward to giving her the yellow room.
